So I'm sitting in an Earth Science class and we are currently discussing the Universe/Galaxy and the teacher keeps informing us of how many millions of years old the universe is and how many light years away various galaxies, stars, black holes, etc are....and my question is...HOW DO YOU REALLY KNOW!?
Now I'm fine with saying that the universe is that old. that's fine, but what real proof is there?
it just all seems a bit mysterious to me. where did all these magical formulas come from? was copernicus and galileo really right?!
can someone explain this to me, because the high school teacher I work with, so far is not succeeding.
we are learning about the Big Bang Theory later in the week, so I will be sure to keep you all informed as I learn how the world "really" came into being!
